CARSON , Hazel

1922-2017

Passed away at the CHUS Fleurimont August 25, 2017.  

Loving wife of the late Garth Carson, mother to Mary and Lois (David Jones) and grandmother to Dylan Jones (Katie Castro) and Caleb Jones (Laurène Jardin).  Daughter of the late Charles and Mildred Horan, she is survived by brother George Horan and sisters Deveda Morrill, Elva Lockwood and Murdeena Jordan as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by brothers Andrew, Gordon, Carl and Clair Douglas Horan, and sisters Eileen Carson and Leola Kazulak.

Hazel  was a well-known teacher in the community of Richmond where she taught for more than 30 years at St. Francis Elementary School. She was a graduate of Macdonald College and Bishop’s University.

She will be lovingly remembered for her dedication to her family and friends and her commitment to the community where she was a member of many organizations including the Women’s Institute (Gore).  

A service in memory of Hazel will be held at St. Anne’s Anglican Church, Richmond, on Sunday, August 27 at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hazel Carson Memorial Scholarship at Bishop’s University, c/o University Advancement Office, 2600 College St. Sherbrooke QC J1M 1Z7 would be greatly appreciated by the family.
