COATES , Russell Wallace

(1927-2018)

 Died peacefully at Hôtel-Dieu Hospital on January 29, 2018. Son of the late Carlos Coates and the late Martha Forbes. He was the youngest boy in a family of 7. He is survived by 3 younger sisters, Lila Coates Girouard, Inez Coates Dutton, Thelma Coates Turnbull and 1 sister-in-law Leona Smith Coates and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his older sister Agnes Coates Lister (Norman Lister) and his brothers Edgar Coates (Thelma Walker Coates) and Howard Coates.

He was never married and farmed in Lawrence nearly all his life and helped to take care of his parents until they passed away. In later years when he could not live alone anymore he moved to the Morrison Home where he was treated like royalty. “Thanks to all of you.”

He was a kind and gentle man and was loved by all especially the nieces and nephews as they have fond memories of lots of fun there.

A graveside service will be held at the Bury Protestant Cemetery on Sunday May 20, 2018 at 2 pm.
