BUZZELL HUDSON, Nellie Ervina

1923 - 2021

Mother passed away peacefully at the Magog hospital on May 16th, 2021 at the age of 97. Predeceased by her husband Herbert Hudson. Four children were born to the couple, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Nellie was a loving and caring person. A very social person always ready for a little chat or giggle.  Mom and Dad were known as a couple you could count on if you were planning a social gathering. They loved to dance and could easily go out two or three times a week in the years after dad retired. Friends could be found on both sides of the border, here close to home or in Florida as they spent their winters there for around 20 years. In Florida they joined the social clubs, the snowbirds enjoyed making new friends celebrating anniversaries, holidays and other occasions. There is still a couple that writes to Mom just to catch up on the latest family news. Mom was an active member of the legion in Ayers Cliff, participating in their meetings and activities. She was also a member of the 50+ club. After dad’s passing in 2011, she would still go to activities with her friends. Mom was always ready to go out. Imagine still driving at 92; but, at this time one of her younger friends would offer to give her a lift to activities held in the evening. In 2015 Nellie suffered a stroke leaving her paralyzed on one side. We were very fortunate the Manor in Stanstead accepted Mother as a resident, the only one using a lift at the time. She didn’t miss many of the music activities that were held in the chapel. She could be seen tapping her toe or someone giving her a twirl in her wheelchair.

A special thank you to Dr. G. Gagné (palliative care 6th floor Magog Hospital) Dr. Gagné is a wonderful compassionate person, making mother’s next step in this life as smooth as possible for herself and her loved ones. I would also like to thank Manoir Stanstead for the six years mother resided at the home. The first time she visited the home she said, this is where I want to live when the time comes. She loved the social, caring and understanding the personnel offered. There are special people she felt attached to, you know who you are, we say thank you.

Due to covid-19 a family gathering to remember Mom and Dad’s lives will be held when possible.

As a memorial tribute, a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

BUZZELL HUDSON, Nellie Ervina

There are pains that are hard to console but a few words can soothe them. When grief has escaped, there will be the best moments
