Pope Stevens, Margaret

POPE STEVENS, Margaret

2021

On March 16th, 2021, Margaret Stevens (nee Pope) at the age of 88, a devoted mother, grandmother, and dear friend to all, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.

Margaret, beloved wife of late Walter Stevens (58 years married) is survived by daughter Cathy (Nick DeNobile), two sons Mark and Paul (Linda Corrigan), six grandchildren, Sarah (Jordan DeWildt) and Megan (Brendan Mooney), Sebastien (Vicky Coddington) and Kelly, Courtney (Will Bell), Cole and great grandchildren (Courtney & Will), Sloane and Blake.

At the centre of her life, Margaret had unlimited time for her children and grandchildren. Her home was always open and welcoming to family and friends. Fresh pies and cookies on the counter were the norm.

In addition to spending time with family and friends, Margaret was active supporter and volunteer in the community for over 50 years, from volunteering on numerous committees at the Wales Home Retirement Residence, both the Trenholm and Richmond Melbourne United Churches, Richmond Melbourne Historical Society and was a passionate antique shopper throughout the Eastern Townships.

Special thanks to the Wales Home Staff for their utmost compassionate care during her time at the Wales Home.

In this time of Covid-19 restrictions, a private funeral will take place with only immediate family members present. In lieu of flowers, donations to Wales Home Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.

The Stevens family

My sympathies to the family. Margaret and Walter were wonderful neighbours. Always happy to see us, especially at Halloween. I have many fond memories of spending time next door and admiring Margaret's beautiful flower gardens. I enjoyed visiting you at the Wales Home before covid. You will be missed Margaret. It was a blessing to have you and your family as my next door neighbors.
