Passed away in the house where he lived most of his life on Thursday April, 29, 2021 in his 87th year.
Son of the late John Garfat and Freda Wannerton. Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Donna Embury, their children Jennifer, Donald (Mary Wright), and Tim. Predeceased by his son David. He was brother to the late Dorothy Mackey Colby, Douglas (Carrol Brown), Ron (Eileen Henderson), late Frances Chaplin and Ginny (David McLachlan).
He was a proud grandfather to Michel, Daniel, Patrick, Ashley, Will, Maggie, Joshua, Matthew, late Jesse, Emily and Priscilla. Great-grandfather to Valentino. He will be missed by Michel Duquette, France Rousseau, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Eventhough Gordon had to leave school after grade 9 to help on the farm, through determination and perseverance, he was able to triple the size of the original farm. He loved farming, especially horses and cattle and was always looking for new innovations. His other passion was trucking, which he started in the fifties with hauling animals to Montreal. In later years he transported gates and farm equipment from Mennonite country in Ontario and horses from Manitoba. He also enjoyed taking travellers with him to show them the Waterloo region of Ontario. He was known to be honest, hard working and always ready to help others.
