Fidler, Earl Jr.

FIDLER, Earl Jr.

1928 - 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Earl Norton Fidler Jr. also lovingly known as Skip, Skipper, Dad, Grandad and Great grandad, on March 15, 2024 at the age of 95. He is predeceased by his wife Doris (Swanson) whom he has been reunited with after 14 years. He was the father to three daughters who adored him, Karen, Kathy (Wayne) and Krista (Gregory). He was dearly loved by his four grandchildren, Colin (Kate), Erika (Drew), Eric (Madison),  Kajsa, and his seven great-grandchildren.

Skip was born in Sherbrooke, Qc. on August 17, 1928. He was the only son of Esther and Earl Fidler Sr. He attended Sherbrooke High school, Mercersburg Academy and UNB, where he excelled in track and field and many other sports. He was devoted to his wife and family and his extended family.  Skip exemplified love and patience and his life revolved around the people and friends who adored him. He was a dedicated member of the Masonic Order and also volunteered many hours at the United Church in Waterville, Qc.

He was extremely musical and entertained us all, especially his great-grandchildren playing his harmonica. He had a song for everything and every occasion. He had a quick wit and we will all cherish the memory of this gentle man.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Brenda Lee Piironen and the staff of the Wales Home on Norton One who loved and cared for our dad. Each and every one of you allowed our dad to be himself, even with his many challenges. We are forever grateful for you all.

A celebration of his life will take place this summer.

It has been a long time since I have seen you but I remember both your Mother and Father so well through the CIBC in Lennoxville. Your Dad was a really great fellow and you will miss him but he and your Mother are now together again.

Karen, Kathy and Krista

A friend in Sherbrooke let us know of your father's passing, and we felt sorrow, but a wave of happy memories followed. Living across from your Mum and Dad in the manse on Waterville for ten years meant that we were often the recipients of their kindness and support. Your Dad could be such a tease sometimes, and he always had a twinkle in his eye.
I am so glad I had the privilege of knowing him. Reverend Jane Aikman and John Foster
