Mary Theresa Fleming, age 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at Hotel-Dieu Hospital in Sherbrooke, Quebec. She was born February 18, 1931, in Glasgow, Scotland, to Ellen (Lowe) and John Fleming. She received her teacher training in Glasgow, Scotland where she taught for several years prior to immigrating to Montreal, Canada, where she met and later married Frank Boushel in August, 1955. Her elementary teaching career spanned three decades and included contracts at St. Malachy’s Elementary School in Montreal, Marymount Elementary in Sherbrooke, and various Catholic High Schools in Toronto where she worked as a religion teacher. After moving to Toronto in the early 1980’s she worked as a volunteer for the Catholic New Times Newspaper, and later moved to Peterborough to take up a post as a pastoral animator at St. Alphonsus Church.
Mother, teacher, traveler, and spiritual explorer, Myra, as she was affectionately known by her friends and family, embraced life with a passion and vigour that left a profound mark on everyone she encountered. Her greatest passions were her children, friends, music, gardening and reading.
She leaves behind her six children Kevin Boushel, Francis Boushel, Anne-Marie Boushel, Robert Boushel, Siobhan Boushel, and Sean Boushel, 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, along with 8 nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will take place at St. Patrick’s Church in Sherbrooke, February 18, 2019.
