1933 - 2021
Passed away peacefully at the Hȏtel-Dieu Hospital in Sherbrooke on Monday, May 17, 2021 in his 87th year. Son of the late John Garfat and Freda Wannerton. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Carrol Brown. Dear father of Tony (Jill Fletcher), Dwight (Nancy Kerr), Gail, Darlene (Steve Marrotte) and Nelson (Line Madore). Grandfather of Jennifer-Rae Garfat, Bobbie-Jo King, Rebecca-Lee Garfat (deceased), Dustin Garfat, Randi-Lynn Garfat, Anastasia Markey, Trevor Patton, Matthew Patton, Adam Patton, Tareva Patton, Schuyler Marrotte, Kyshia Marrotte, Ayla Marrotte, Sabrina Garfat, Cody Garfat and great-grandfather of eleven. He also leaves to mourn his passing, his brother, Ron (Eileen Henderson), sister-in-law, Donna (Embury) Garfat, brother-in-law, Stan Brown (Pat Decoteau) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Gordon, Dorothy Mackey Colby, Frances Chaplin and Ginny (David McLachlan). The family would like to thank the staff at the Wales Home, especially Norton 3, for their compassionate care. A graveside service and burial of ashes will be held at the Huntingville Cemetery at a later date. As a memorial tribute, a donation to the Wales Home Foundation, 506 Route 243 Nord, Cleveland, QC J0B 2H0 or The Huntingville Cemetery Association, PO Box 325, Succ. Lennoxville, Sherbrooke, QC J1M 1Z5 would be appreciated by the family.
