Veilleux , Léopold

(1924-2017)

Passed away at the CHUS Hôtel-DIeu, March 28, 2017, at the age of 92 years and 7 months, Mr. Léopold Veilleux, husband of the late Estelle St-Pierre, from Sawyerville. Son of the late Louis Veilleux and the late Yvonne Bernard.
Visitations will be held at the  salle Léopold Veilleux, Les Douceurs de l’érable, 50, rte 253, Sawyerville, QC, J0B 3A0, on Friday April 21, 2017 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. Also on Saturday April 22, 2017 from 9h30 to 10h45. The funeral service will followed at 11am in Notre-Dame du Saint-Rosaire Church, Sawyerville (4 Randboro Rd. Sawyerville, QC). Burial at a later date in the Notre-Dame du Saint-Rosaire cemetery.
Mr. Veilleux leaves to mourn his children Luc (Rita Vachon), Richard (Lyne Beaudoin), Lorraine, Julien (Linda Cyr), Maryse (Réjean Labranche), Benoit (Johanne Corbeil), Jean-Pierre et Nathalie (Stanley Taylor), his 24 grandchildren and his great grandchildren.  Mr. Veilleux was the brother of the late Gérard, Gisèle (the late Fernand Dusseault), the late Raymond (Hermance Gaulin) and the late Madeleine. He was also the brother in-law of the late Thérèse St-Pierre (the late Cyrinus Bellavance), the late Léo St-Pierre (the late Jeannette Lachance), the late Madeleine St-Pierre (the late Léo Labrecque), Marie-Berthe St-Pierre (the late Lionel Hallé), Jeanne St-Pierre (the late Édouard Duhaime), the late Victorienne St-Pierre (the late Alfred Campagna), Aline St-Pierre (the late Léo Boislard), Réal St-Pierre (Fernande Boislard), Ghislaine St-Pierre (Henri-Boislard), the late Jean-Marc St-Pierre, Antonine St-Pierre (Gérard Roy) and Marie-Louis St-Pierre (Colette Lamadeleine) and many other nephews, nieces and friends.

The family would like to thank all the staff at La Résidence Sawyerville and also the staff of the 5e floor at Hôtel-Dieu for the good care given to Mr. Veilleux.


Vander Wal, Lambertus

Sadly passed away at home in Richmond, Quebec, on Saturday, March 26th, 2016. Son of the late Gooitske and Wiebe Vander Wal.

Lambertus leaves to mourn his sisters and brother Betty (Donald), Alle, and Johnny (Karin); his nieces and nephews Robin (Chuck), Connie, Jeffrey (Marie-Josée), John (France), Sonya (Garry) and Erica; his sixteen great nieces and nephews, his one great great niece, and many good friends.

A graveside service and burial will be announced at a later date.

Vaudry Cochrane, Julia

In her 89th year, on Thursday, January 29, 2015, went peacefully to be with her Lord at Grace Christian Home, following a brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband John, and is survived by her niece Janice (Robert Carey), and nephews John (Wendy Cowan), Richard (Wendy Paulette) and Craig, as well as great-nieces Mary, Hannah, and Eleanor, and great-nephews Paul, Philip, James, Eric and Edward. She was also predeceased by her brother Fred and sister-in-law Catherine. Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 2, from 7-9 p.m. at the Cass Funeral Home, 3006 College St., (Lennoxville) Sherbrooke, 819-564-1750, www.casshomes.ca, and an hour before the funeral service, which will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 2 p.m. at Hope Community Church, 102 Queen St., (Lennoxville) Sherbrooke. Spring interment at Huntingville Cemetery. Donations made to the Dr. W.J. Klinck Foundation c/o Massawippi Christian Retirement Homes, 1501 rue Campbell, Sherbrooke, QC  J1M 0C1 would be greatly appreciated by the family.


Valliere Hayward, Violet

Passed away peacefully at the Connaught Home, North Hatley, Qc on Wednesday, January 21st 2015 at the age of 88. Violet Hope Vallière, beloved wife of the late Walter George Hayward,and dear mother of Sandra Lee (Wayne), Dwight Delbert (Helen), Cheryle Gail (Jim), Laurel Darlene (Gérard) and the late Wade Bradley. Violet was the cherished grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. At her request, no visitation and a private interment will be held in the spring.

Vintinner Bennett, Lorna

Of Bishopton, passed away at La Maison Aube-Lumière on September 30, 2014 at the age of 83. Daugther of the late Collins Vintinner and the late Minnie Boyce. Beloved wife of the late Robert Bennett and mother of Lynn Grapes (Bruce), Rick Bennett (Carol) and Ellen Bennett. Loving Nan to five grandchildren : Shawn Bennett (Kristin), Bradley Grapes, Corey Grapes, Erin Mazzoni (Peter), and Kristen Lacroix (Christopher); and to eleven great-grandchildren : Kaylee Bennett, Bryan, Benjamin and Makayla Grapes, Preston Grapes, Sophia and Cohen Mazzoni and Ethan, Riley, Cidnee and Brayden Lacroix. Sister of Eileen Lowe (late Clifford) and the late Phil Vintinner (late Elsie Gagné). Survived by sisters-in-law: Alice Bennett, Lewella Bailey and Violet Main (Stuart) and step-sister Betty Lou Mackenzie. She also leaves to mourn many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Visitation will take place at the Bishopton United Church on Saturday, October 11, 2014 from 12:30 to 2:00, followed immediately by the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name to La Maison Aube-Lumière, 3071, 12th Avenue North, Sherbrooke, Qc, J1H 5H3, would be appreciated.

Passed away in Ayer's Cliff, on June 6 , 2014 at the age of 82 years and 6 months. Daughter of the late Joseph Vaillancourt and the late Éliosa Poulin and lovings wife of the late Raymond Viens. Beloved father of Michel (Diane Labbée), Pierre (Jacqueline Roy), Linda, Christiane (Daniel Lalime), Marc (Carole Batrie), Jacques and Renald (Brenda-Lee Roy). Cherished grandfather of François, Philippe, Véronique, Mathieu, Pascal, Emmanuel, Marie-Pier, Jennifer, Élisabeth, Marc-Antoine, Jonathan, Marianne, Alexandra, Gabrielle and Raphael and great grandather of Lucas, Audrey, Zacharie, Félix, Logan, Megan and Naomie. Jeannine leaves to mourn her brothers the late Roland ( the late Marie-Paule) and Claude (Annette), her sisters Yvette (the late John Rousseau), Doris (the late Charles Davis), her brother-in-law Nelson (Jeannine Côté), her sister-in-law Monique (the late Marcel Viens), along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends Resting at the Cass Funeral Home, 900 Clough St. Ayer's Cliff, on Saturday, June14, 2014 from 11 am to 1:45 pm. Vanier Stowe, Georgette

Passed away suddenly at home, on March 17, 2014, in her 85th year. Beloved wife of the late Clifton S. Stowe and mother of Michael (Claire) and grandmother of Isaac (Amanda) and Anna (Kevin). Great grandmother of Addison and Katelynn. In respect of Georgette's wishes, cremation was held a the Cass-Windsor crematorium Windsor, QC. There will be no visitation, a graveside service will be held at the Grace United Cemetery, Brookbury, QC on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 2 pm with Tami Spires, minister of the United Eaton Valley Pastoral Charge officiating. As memorial tributes, donations of your choice.


Verhoef, Gerard

Verhoef, Gerard (1917 - 2013) Passed away peacefully at the Wales Home, Richmond, with his family by his side, on Monday August 26th 2013, Mr. Gerard Verhoef at the age of 96. Loving husband of the late Johanna van Ruitenbeek, and dear father of Walter (Dominique), Barbara (Kevin), and Hendrik (Nancy). Loving grandfather of Benjamin (Véronique), Alexis, Jessica (Troy), Jeffrey (Veronica), Jamie (Jay), Katrina (Jake) and Michelle, and great grandfather of Xavier. Gerard also leaves to mourn his brother Gilbert (Maria), of Richmond, QC, his sisters Marie, Greet and Corrie and his brother Hein, all from Holland. Pre-deceased by his brothers and sisters Manus, Ali, Cilia, Jan, Bertha and Margaret, along with many nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Resting at the Cass Funeral Home, 295 Principale S., Richmond, where friends may visit on Wednesday August 28th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and on Thursday from 1 to 1:45 PM. A funeral mass will be held at Ste-Bibiane Catholic Church on Thursday August 29th at 2:00 PM. Interment in Ste-Bibiane Cemetery. The family would like to extend a heartfelt "Thank you" to the staff of the Wales Home for the wonderful care they provided. van Zuiden, Stanley

Stan van Zuiden spoke his final words April 13, 2013 in his 91st year from his Magog home. Beloved husband of the late Yolande (Hains) van Zuiden, son of the late Jacques van Zuiden and Rosette Hiegentlich, brother to the late Rosalie Fox and Ceasar van Zuiden. He leaves to mourn his children; Carole in Orford, Alec (Marian, mother to Benjamin (Kristi), Nicolas, Juliana (Tom), Caryn, Sofia and A.J.) in Ayer’s Cliff and Eric (Hélène, mother to Tania and Kyliane / Guylaine mother to Sandrine and Rafaëla) in Howick. He was also the proud great-grandfather to Benjamin and Kristi’s daughter Brooklyn. Born in Amsterdam, Holland on September 3, 1922, where he received his early education. After the German occupation he joined the Dutch army in England and served during the end of the war. After leaving the army he finished his studies and completed a one year internship in Nashua, NH. At the end of 1951 he emigrated to Canada where he was employed by Dominion Textile / Magog Print Works for 30 years. After retirement he spent many years in the employ of his spouse as an antique dealer. After she passed away in 2005 he continued the business, known throughout the townships as Magog Antiques.
