Labrecque , Lee


Died suddenly at home, on January 31,2018 with his loving wife Helen (nee Maynes) of over 55 years by his side. Precious father of Laurie and Steven of Ottawa, dear father-in-law of Tim Hall and much-loved grandfather of Riley and Jayden Labrecque. Beloved brother of  Janet (Charles) White of Saco Maine, Norman (Lorraine) Labrecque of Knowlton, Don (Susan) Labrecque of Peachland B.C., Julie (late Gower) Bradshaw of Napanee.  Dear brother-in-law of Jean (Wes) Jones of Toronto, Shirley (Doug) Beakes of Waterloo, Doris (Glenn) McGovern of Waterloo.  Predeceased by his parents Jerry and Ellen Labrecque and sister-in-law Joyce Ossington.  Highly thought of and will be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Please join us on February 17th at Lennoxville United Church, 6 Church St., Sherbrooke (Lennoxville) for visitation from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., followed by the funeral.

Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.




Coates , Russell Wallace


 Died peacefully at Hôtel-Dieu Hospital on January 29, 2018. Son of the late Carlos Coates and the late Martha Forbes. He was the youngest boy in a family of 7. He is survived by 3 younger sisters, Lila Coates Girouard, Inez Coates Dutton, Thelma Coates Turnbull and 1 sister-in-law Leona Smith Coates and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his older sister Agnes Coates Lister (Norman Lister) and his brothers Edgar Coates (Thelma Walker Coates) and Howard Coates.

He was never married and farmed in Lawrence nearly all his life and helped to take care of his parents until they passed away. In later years when he could not live alone anymore he moved to the Morrison Home where he was treated like royalty. “Thanks to all of you.”

He was a kind and gentle man and was loved by all especially the nieces and nephews as they have fond memories of lots of fun there.

A graveside service will be held in the spring. 

Morrill , Alan

Peacefully, with family by his side, at London Health Sciences Centre-Victoria Hospital on Saturday, January 27, 2018, Alan George Morrill of Strathroy went home to be with his Lord and Saviour at the age of 58.  Loving husband of Kristine “Kris” Morrill (nee Ovens) for 34 years.  Beloved father of Daniel (Allison) Morrill and Philip (Kristaina) Morrill.  Dear grandfather of Mason, Breelynn, Emma and Elijah.  Dear son of the late John and Helen Morrill, brother of Barry Morrill and Dean Morrill and brother-in-law of Bonita Ovens-Taylor (Bill Taylor).  Sadly missed by many extended family members and friends.  Cremation has taken place.  Memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, February 1st from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY 519-245-1023. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 2nd at 11:00 am at Bethel Baptist Church, 264 Princess Street, Strathroy with Pastor Allan Self officiating.  As expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.  Online condolences accepted at


Meekes Brus, Bernardina (Dien)

1925 – 2018

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Bernardina (Dien) Meekes Brus at the CSSS Memphrémagog on January 25, 2018 in her 93rd year.  Dear wife to the late William (Bill) Brus.

She leaves to mourn her children: Thea (Paul Hulshof), Henriette (Alain Lafaille), Margaret (late Dale Hartley), Mary (Jacques Cloutier), André (Christiane Roux), John (Sylvie Boucher) and William (Shelley Hatch).  She is predeceased by her son Ben.  She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Bryant (Lori), Michelle, Natalie, Brad (Lieke), Annie (Marc), Katrine (David), Josée (Jean-François), Philippe (Vanessa), Michael, Christopher (Laura), Yannick (Caroline), Julien (Caroline), Francis (Andréanne), Kevin (Caroline), Shayne (Annette), Andréane (Matthew), Drew (Emily), Keisha, Joanie (Marc), Ashley (Claude), Bill and Cassie (Jérôme); her 29 great grandchildren, her little angel Mathys and Steve & Alda Brus.  She also leaves behind many brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends from Canada and Holland.

Friends and family will gather at the Cass Funeral Home, 900, Clough St, Ayer’s Cliff, QC, on Friday February 2, 2018 from 7 – 10 p.m. and on Saturday February 3, 2018 from 9 – 11 a.m.  Funeral services will follow at the St-Barthélemy Church in Ayer’s Cliff.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers at the Résidence Sanborn in Ayer’s Cliff and staff of the 6th floor at the CSSS Memphrémagog for the excellent care provided to our Mom.

Fraser, William John

William John Fraser  “Mr. Bill”

Passed away peacefully at the Wales Home, on Tuesday January 23, 2018 at the age of 81. Beloved son of the late Merrill Fraser and the late Jessie Armstrong and loving husband of Evelyn Baker. He leaves to mourn his children Colleen (Jim), Karen and Kevin; his grandchildren: James (Mindy), Philip, Joshua and Sierra; his great- grandchildren: Adrianna and Trevor. He also leaves to mourn his sisters Laurie Walker (Johnny) and Pauline Smith (the late Frederick), his nieces and nephews:Judy, David, Fraser, Robert and Kenneth. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law William Baker. A celebration of life will be held at the Richmond Legion (235 College St. N. Richmond, QC J0B 2H0), on Saturday January, 27, 2018 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. A private burial will be held at a later date. Allard, Donald Nelson

1941 – 2018

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Donald Nelson Allard at the CHUS-Fleurimont on January 21, 2018 in his 77th year.  Dear husband of Pauline Goudreau and son of the late René Allard and the late Béatrice Rousseau.

Mr. Allard leaves to mourn his children Christine (Guy Ouellet), Paul (Josée Fecteau) and Patrick (Anne-Marie Grenier). He is predeceased by his son John.  He will also sadly be missed by his grandchildren: Nicholas (Johanie), Christopher (Catherine), Shawn (Clara) and Kayla (Liam) Ouellet; Jérémy (Karine), Jason (Noémie) and Roxanne Allard; Vivianne and Chad Allard as well as his great-granddaughter Charlie Ouellet.  He was a brother to the late Réginald (Jeanette Houston), late Armand (Yvette Maillot), late Robert, (Audrey Wells), late Albert, Theresa (late Claude Tanguay) and Michael (Monique Fortin).  He also leaves his brother-in-law Jean Goudreau (Gaétane Fortin Roy) and his sister-in-law Frances Aubé (Richard Aubé) as well as many uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, other relative and many friends.

Visitation will be held at the Cass funeral Home, 545, rue Dufferin, Stanstead, QC, on Friday January 26, 2018 from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday January 27, 2018 from 10 to 11 a.m.  A celebration of life will follow at the funeral home.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers from the Stanstead Ambulance service, the CSSS Memphremagog and the CHUS Fleuriromt (9th, 10th and intensive care unit 3rd floor) for the excellent care given to Mr. Allard.

Pitman, Doris

Doris Pitman, at the age of 98, passed away peacefully at Grace Village in Huntingville on January 20th, 2018.

She leaves to mourn her sister Gwen Parker, and is fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, cousins and their children, as well as friends and colleagues from Grace Chapel and the mission field in Angola. She was predeceased by her sister Aileen Lord and brother Douglas Pitman. 

The family wishes to thank the nurses, caregivers and other staff at Grace Village for their loving care and concern.

A service celebrating Doris’ life will be held Wednesday, January 24th at 2:30 PM at Grace Village. The family will receive condolences prior to the service.

Belknap, Marjorie Jeannette

1930 - 2018

Mrs. Belknap died January 16, 2018 peacefully at CSSS de Magog in her 88th year.  Wife of the late Clarence (Colly) Lusty of Baldwin’s Mills, Quebec.

She leaves to mourn her daughters Jeanne Lusty (Dale Morse), Kathy Lusty-Curtis (Brian Curtis); grandchildren Paul Dougherty, Tania Dougherty (Simon Giroux), Chris Curtis (Nathalie McAuley) and 3 great granddaughters: Ashley Jacques, Keira and Rya Curtis.

There will be a private graveside service in the spring. Donations in her memory can be made to the Pet Connection, 1730 Rue Wellington S, Sherbrooke, QC J1M 1K9. The family would like to thank Pat Lepine and the Staff of Place Sanborn in Ayer’s Cliff for their kindness and care.

Sparkes, Malcolm Kenneth

October 21, 1936 - January 4, 2018

On Thursday morning at six a.m.January 4, Mac the beloved husband of Janet (née Moon) went HOME to be with his LORD and SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST!
 He was the much loved and cherished Father of Tim (Rita), Cindy (Frank) and Ted (Julie). He was a precious grandfather to 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He leaves to mourn his brothers and sisters and their families and his brother and sisters in laws and their family in the Moon family. He also leaves to mourn many friends and neighbors.
Mac was a strong hard working quiet man who was a mentor to many. He was always ready to help anyone. His strong faith in GOD was evident in every area of his life. We thank the LORD for our precious husband father grandfather and great grandfather and we cherish his memory and his love for GOD and for us.
We will forever be thankful for all his guidance in our lives.

Mac will be laid to rest at a graveside service in the Spring at the Huntingville  Cemetery to which all who wish will be invited to attend. Notice to follow later

Leroux, John


Passed away peacefully at the CHUS Fleurimont, on January 1, 2018 at the age of 85.
Beloved husband of Violet Brock and loving father of James (Colette), Jill (Luc), Joseph (Annick) and Jeffrey (Nicole). He leaves to mourn his grandchildren, his brothers Guy (Patsy) and Bobby (the late Velma). He was predeceased by his sister Joyce (the late George).
A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Trenholm Cemetery.
